Drinking Water Supply

Water supply is the provision of water by public utilities, commercial organisations, community endeavors or by individuals, usually via a system of pumps and pipes. Mission is to ensure all rural households have access to and use of safe and sustainable drinking water and improved sanitation facilities by providing support to state in their endeavor to provide these basic facilities and services.

Pollution and environmental degradation have reached alarming dimensions due to poverty, deforestation, industrial development without adequate environmental safeguards, and sheer greed. Major pollutants and critically affected areas have been identified. Pollution control of water, air, and land has been established by both official and private organizations and the work on environmental protection is steadily growing.

Welfare of Women and Children

Women constitute 48 per cent of the total population in India. They suffer many disadvantages as compared to men in literary rates, labour participation rates and earnings. The development of women has been receiving attention of the Government of India from the First Plan. But it was treated as a subject of welfare and clubbed together with the welfare of the disadvantaged groups like destitute, disabled, aged, etc.

Welfare of Aged Disabled People

The disabilities that a person experiences in the course of ageing are multiple in nature. For some, ageing enhances status and enriches life satisfaction, but for many others, it may be difficult and problematic.The Constitution of India has guaranteed the full protection to the rights of disabled people. The Scheme of Government of India, simplifies and facilitates procedure for easy access to govt. support for NGOs with the aim to widen the scope and range of programmes. It will address the unmet needs of the over 95 Indian citizens with disabilities who have not had access to services so far.

Sanitation

Water, Sanitation and Hygiene WASH are some of the most basic needs for human health and survival. WASH can also be crucial components in freeing people from poverty. Drinking water supply and sanitation in India continue to be inadequate, despite longstanding efforts by the various levels of government and communities at improving coverage. A number of innovative approaches to improve water supply and sanitation have been tested in India.
